Hero System Overview

Heroes are powerful NPC allies that accompany your character into battle, dungeons, and world events. Each hero has a unique race affinity, class archetype, and passive ability that activates when they are assigned as your active companion. You may only have one active hero at a time, but you can recruit and maintain up to all 12 in your roster.

Heroes are not just combat bonuses — they also contribute to economy tasks (some heroes generate gold passively), crafting efficiency, and faction reputation gain. Choosing the right hero for your current goal is a key strategic decision.

NOTE

Heroes do not die. If your character loses a fight, your active hero is simply "stunned" for 1 hour and cannot be used during that window. You can switch to another recruited hero in the meantime.

Hero Slots

  • Slot 1 (free) — unlocked from the start; holds your first recruited hero
  • Slots 2–4 — unlocked at character levels 10, 25, and 50
  • Slots 5–12 — unlocked via Prestige tiers (Prestige 1 through 8)

Each hero card links to their dedicated guide page with full lore, loyalty system details, recruitment requirements, active & passive abilities, and combat tips.

Loyalty System

Every hero has a Loyalty Level ranging from 1 to 3. Higher loyalty unlocks stronger passive bonuses and grants access to the hero's Active Skill in combat. Loyalty does not reset if you swap your active hero.

Loyalty Levels & Bonuses

Level Passive Strength Active Skill How to Reach
Loyalty 150% of listed passiveNot availableDefault on recruitment
Loyalty 275% of listed passiveUnlocked (1 use/fight)250 Loyalty Points
Loyalty 3100% of listed passiveEnhanced (2 uses/fight)1,000 Loyalty Points (cumulative)

Earning Loyalty Points

  • Fighting with hero active: +1 LP per PvE fight won, +3 LP per dungeon floor cleared
  • Winning PvP with hero active: +5 LP per arena win, +10 LP per Eclipse War kill
  • Hero Gifts: Items purchasable with Gold or Gems — Small Gift (+15 LP), Large Gift (+75 LP), Grand Tribute (+300 LP)
  • Daily Login bonus: +2 LP to your active hero each day you log in
  • Quest completions: Select quests reward +20–50 LP to a specified hero

TIP

Focus on reaching Loyalty 2 first — the active skill unlock is a larger combat boost than the 25% passive improvement from Loyalty 2 to 3. Prioritize heroes that match your current content focus (PvE vs PvP).

How to Recruit Heroes

Heroes are not purchasable outright. Each hero must be unlocked by completing a specific recruitment quest chain. These quests become available at set character levels and sometimes require prior faction standing.

WARNING

Race-locked heroes (e.g. Seraphine for Vampires) cannot be recruited or used if you are playing the opposite race. If you use a Prestige Race Change, any race-locked heroes you owned are placed into an inactive "Vault" and cannot be used until you switch back.

Hero Skills in Combat

At Loyalty 2+, heroes grant an Active Skill that triggers automatically under specific conditions during combat. You do not manually activate these — they fire based on round number, HP threshold, or enemy type.

TIP

At Loyalty 3, heroes with round-triggered skills get a second use. For example, Seraphine's Blood Nova fires on round 3 AND round 7. This makes Loyalty 3 especially powerful in long dungeon boss fights.

Best Heroes by Role

PvE Farming (Grinding Mobs)

  1. Darra Ashfang — +20% gold per kill makes her the undisputed economy hero. Must-have for gold farmers.
  2. Shaya Moonsinger — Regen between rounds means fewer potions used, keeping profit margins high.
  3. Elder Theron — +15% XP accelerates leveling significantly in the early/mid game.

Dungeons (Boss Content)

  1. Lord Morvaine — Iron Bulwark at low HP is a fight-saver in high-tier dungeons. Best defensive hero.
  2. Seraphine Dusk — Blood Nova sustain plus lifesteal is excellent for long boss fights.
  3. Fenra Wildblood — First-strike and Predator's Mark dramatically speed up boss kills.

PvP (Arena & Eclipse War)

  1. Cain Hollows — Shadow Strike on round 1 can one-shot glass-cannon opponents before they act.
  2. Koda Stormfang — War Howl's permanent STR boost is the strongest single PvP buff in the game.
  3. Grull Ironmaw — Berserker Rage makes losing comebacks viable; catches opponents off-guard.

Economy & Crafting

  1. Bran Ashclaw — Essential for any gathering-focused player. -20% cooldown effectively doubles your node visits.
  2. Darra Ashfang — Potion efficiency bonus also reduces crafting material cost indirectly.
  3. Elder Theron — Faction rep bonus speeds up reputation-locked crafting recipes.
