Overview

Sister Varla of the Pale Order is a former cleric who lost her theological faith but kept her healing discipline — a healer who operates on stubborn compassion rather than divine mandate. She is the most accessible healer hero in the game, recruitable at level 8, and provides consistent HP regeneration, potion cost reductions, and a full heal or shield skill that makes early and mid-game content dramatically safer. Her consumable-saving passive has surprising long-term gold value in content where potion use is high.

Background

Varla served the Pale Order — a healing sect that predated both vampire and werewolf factions — for twenty years, running field hospitals in the no-man's-lands between faction territories and asking nothing from either side except to be left alone to do the work. The shattering of the Crystal and the war season that followed ended the Order: their largest hospital was destroyed in crossfire, the sect's leadership scattered or killed, and Varla spent three weeks digging survivors out of rubble while praying to gods that, as far as she could tell, had nothing to say in response. She stopped praying that winter and has not resumed the practice, but she kept every one of the healing techniques because the techniques, at least, demonstrably worked. She is curt with new companions, generous with her skills, and absolutely merciless about waste: if you have healing available and fail to use it correctly, she will notice and say so. Earn her full trust and she provides a free daily heal — not charity, she will insist, just efficiency.

Varla is the optimal companion for Elder Theron in defensive stacking compositions: layering her HP regen, his damage reduction, and Pale Blessing's shield creates a sustain ceiling that trivialises most normal-difficulty content. Healer subclass players who stack VIT natively amplify the percentage-based regen and shield values she provides. Her -10% potion cost reduction at loyalty 3 also compounds with any shop discount from Seraph Shadowblade, making her an unexpectedly useful economy companion alongside her healing role.
