Getting Started
Is the game free to play?
Yes. Vampires vs. Werewolves is completely free to play. Optional cosmetic purchases exist (via Gems) but they never affect gameplay balance or combat power.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No download is required. The game runs entirely in your browser on desktop and mobile. You can optionally install it as a PWA (Progressive Web App) for a native-app experience — just tap "Add to Home Screen" on mobile.
How do I start playing?
Click Play Free, choose your race (Vampire or Werewolf), set your character name, and you're in. The game begins immediately with a short tutorial to get you started.
What browsers are supported?
All modern browsers are supported: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (v90+). For the best experience, we recommend Chrome or Firefox on desktop.
Is there a mobile version?
The game is fully playable on mobile browsers. For the best mobile experience, install it as a PWA: in Chrome tap the menu → "Add to Home Screen." This gives you a full-screen app icon and offline access to cached pages.
Can I play on multiple devices?
Yes. Your account is server-side and accessible from any device. Log in from your phone, tablet, and PC — your progress syncs instantly across all devices.
Is there a tutorial for new players?
Yes. A guided tutorial starts automatically when you first log in. It covers: movement, your first hunt, the skill system, your first quest, and the clan introduction. You can replay any tutorial section from Character → Help → Tutorials.
Gameplay
What are Action Points (AP)?
AP are your daily activity tokens. Each hunt costs 5 AP. AP regenerates at 10 per hour (max 100). You can also use items to restore AP instantly. Logging in daily and managing your AP efficiently is key to fast leveling.
How do I level up?
Hunt monsters in different locations to earn XP. Higher-level locations give more XP. Completing quests and daily missions also grants bonus XP. See our leveling guide for the fastest routes at each level range.
How does the loot/drop system work?
Each monster has a loot table with drop chances for items of different rarities (Common → Uncommon → Rare → Epic → Legendary). Luck stat and certain skills increase drop rates. Events like Blood Night can temporarily boost Epic and Legendary drop chances.
What are daily missions and streaks?
Each day you receive 3 missions (kill X monsters, earn X gold, etc.). Completing all 3 gives a bonus reward. Logging in every day builds a streak — longer streaks unlock increasingly valuable bonuses, up to Legendary items at day 30.
How does the skill system work?
Each character has access to race-specific skills (50 per race). Skills are unlocked using Skill Points (SP), earned by leveling up and completing quests. Each skill has multiple tiers and can be upgraded.
What is the maximum character level?
The current level cap is 100. At level 100, the Prestige system unlocks — letting you reset to level 1 in exchange for permanent bonuses. Prestige players are marked with a special icon and can reach Prestige 5 (the maximum).
What is the Weekly Vault?
The Weekly Vault is a bonus chest that opens every Monday. It rewards gear based on how many Mythic+ dungeons you completed the previous week. Completing 1/4/8 Mythic+ keys grants 1/2/3 Vault items. The gear quality scales with the highest key level you completed.
How does the Blood Moon event work?
The Blood Moon triggers every 77 in-game days. During the event (48 hours): the Blood Moon Titan world boss spawns with exclusive Legendary drops, the Eclipse Sanctum dungeon opens (best loot in the game during this period), and all Legendary drop rates increase. See the Events wiki for the countdown schedule.
Can I play solo or do I need a group?
Most content up to level 80 is comfortably soloable. World bosses and Mythic+ dungeons require a 4-player group. The in-game Group Finder (G key) automatically matches you with other players for any activity. You are never forced to join a premade group.
Races
What is the difference between Vampire and Werewolf?
Vampires have lower HP but deal high burst damage and steal life from enemies. Werewolves have higher HP, passive regeneration, and deal strong physical damage with critical hits. See our Races comparison page for full stats.
Can I change my race?
Race is permanent and defines your entire character progression. A one-time "Curse of Transformation" item is planned for a future update. Choose wisely!
Are races balanced?
Yes. Both races are equally viable at max level. Vampires tend to excel in PvP due to burst and life steal. Werewolves are more forgiving in PvE. See our race selection guide for a full stat comparison.
What are subclasses?
Subclasses are specializations within your race, unlocked at level 40. Each faction has 8 base subclasses (e.g., Blood Mage, Shadow Assassin for vampires; Moon Warrior, Pack Shaman for werewolves). Advanced subclasses (Prestige 4 required) add 4 more per faction. See the Subclass Guide.
Which race is better for beginners?
Werewolf is slightly more forgiving for new players: higher HP, natural regeneration, and strong physical attacks with straightforward mechanics. Vampires have a higher skill ceiling (life steal management, burst timing) but are rewarding once mastered.
PvP
How does PvP work?
From the PvP Arena you can attack other players within ±5 levels of your character. Each day you have 15 PvP attack actions. Wins grant XP and the chance to steal some of the loser's gold. See our PvP guide to climb the rankings.
Can I lose items in PvP?
No. You can only lose a small amount of gold in PvP — items are never dropped. This keeps PvP fair and prevents unfair progression setbacks.
What is the ELO/ranking system?
PvP uses an ELO-based rating system. Beating higher-ranked players gives more rating points. The top players appear on the global ranking leaderboard. Seasonal rankings reset every 3 months.
Is there a protection for new players?
Yes. Players below Level 5 are protected from PvP attacks. Additionally, you can only be attacked once per day by the same player.
What is ranked PvP and how does it differ from regular PvP?
Regular PvP uses your 15 daily attack actions in an open arena. Ranked PvP is a separate queue (unlocked at level 50) with a structured MMR system and 6 tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Legendary. Ranked rewards (including Legendary gear from the PvP vendor) are only available through ranked.
What are Clan Wars? How do they score?
Clan Wars are week-long conflicts between opposing-faction clans over No Man's Land territory. Scoring: 50% territory control + 30% kill count + 20% objectives. The winning clan receives bonus gold, XP, and a permanent Clan War victory counter toward the "War Champion" Legendary chest.
Clans
When can I join or create a clan?
You can join or create a clan once you reach Level 5. Creating a clan costs 500 gold. A clan can have up to 30 members.
Can Vampires and Werewolves be in the same clan?
No. Clans are race-exclusive. This is a core part of the Vampires vs. Werewolves rivalry — every clan fights for their race's supremacy.
What are Clan Wars?
Every week (Monday–Thursday), clans of opposing races can declare war on each other. The clan with more victories earns bonus gold and XP for all members for the following week.
What does the Clan Bank do?
The Clan Bank is a shared storage accessible to all clan members. Officers and leaders can set withdrawal limits per rank. The bank is used to share crafting materials, gold, and consumables with the clan. Clan Bank capacity increases with Clan Level (unlocks additional tabs at Levels 3, 6, and 9).
What are Clan Alliances?
Clans at Level 5+ can form diplomatic alliances with other clans. A Full Alliance grants both clans a +5% stat bonus when members are co-located in PvP zones and allows coordinated territory defense in Clan Wars. Each clan can maintain 2 Full Alliances at a time. See the Alliance Guide.
How large can a clan be?
The default clan cap is 30 members. Upgrading the Clan Hall increases the cap: Clan Hall Level 3 allows 40 members, Level 7 allows 50 members (maximum). Clan Hall upgrades require gold and Clan XP earned through clan activities.
Economy & Items
How do I earn gold?
Gold drops from monster kills, quest rewards, daily mission bonuses, and winning PvP attacks. Selling items at the Auction House is the fastest way to accumulate large amounts of gold. See our gold farming guide for the most efficient methods.
What is the Auction House?
The Auction House is a player-driven marketplace where you can buy and sell items for gold. List any item at a fixed price or start an auction. A 5% listing fee applies to sold items. The Auction House unlocks at Level 10. See how to profit on the AH.
How does crafting work?
Crafting uses materials gathered from monsters and nodes to create gear, consumables, and enchanting materials. Each crafting discipline has a 1–100 skill level. At Grandmaster (Skill 100) you can craft Legendary items. Craft at workbenches in major cities.
Where can I find Legendary items?
Legendary items drop from world bosses (1–3% chance, plus a weekly guaranteed drop), from Mythic+15+ dungeons, through the pity system (guaranteed after 100 dungeon boss kills without a Legendary), and via Grandmaster crafting at Runecrafting Skill 100. See our Legendary farming guide.
Is there trading between players?
Player-to-player direct trading is not currently available — all item exchange goes through the Auction House. This prevents duplication exploits and maintains a fair economy. Direct trading is on the roadmap for a future update.
What is the Black Market?
The Black Market is a rotating shop that refreshes every 24 hours with rare and Epic items at discounted gold prices. Stock is limited — items sell out fast. Check it daily from the main city hub for deals on hard-to-find gear.
What items should a beginner prioritize?
Upgrade your weapon first — it has the biggest impact on damage and XP gains. Then prioritize chest armor for survivability. Avoid spending gold on Rare items before level 20; Common and Uncommon gear is more than sufficient while leveling quickly.
Monetization
Is there pay-to-win?
Absolutely not. All real-money purchases are strictly cosmetic: avatar frames, character skins, titles, and visual effects. No item that affects combat, stats, or progression can be purchased with real money.
What can I buy with Gems?
Gems are used for: cosmetic skins, avatar frames, consumable appearance items, streak freeze tokens (keep your login streak), and premium seasonal event items. Gems can also be earned for free through events and achievements.
Can I earn Gems without paying?
Yes. Gems are awarded through seasonal events, login streak milestones (Day 7, Day 30), completing achievement challenges, and special community goals. Free players can access most cosmetics over time.
What is the Season Pass?
The Season Pass (premium track) is available each season for Gems. It provides 2 guaranteed Legendary items, cosmetic rewards at each of 30 milestone levels, and a bonus Gem refund at the end of the season. The free track of the Season Pass is accessible to all players without payment.
Are there subscription fees?
No subscription is required. The game is free to play with optional one-time Gem purchases or the seasonal Season Pass (also purchased with Gems). There are no recurring fees. Gems can also be earned in-game for free.
