Prerequisite: Build Market Knowledge First

Spend 2 weeks tracking 15โ€“20 items daily before trading with significant capital. Note: daily prices, weekly highs/lows, what spikes during events. The VvW AH is efficient โ€” uninformed trading loses money.

Strategy 1: Commodity Timing

Crafting materials follow weekly price cycles:

  • Sunday night/Monday morning: Lowest prices (players dump weekend farming haul)
  • Friday evening: Highest prices (peak player activity, highest crafting demand)
  • Buy Monday, sell Friday. Average margin: 20โ€“35% on high-volume commodities.

Best commodities for this strategy: Void Essence, Moon-Touched Timber, Blood Iron Ore, Ancient Bone Dust.

Strategy 2: Event Pre-Stocking

Every major game event causes a predictable spike in specific item categories:

  • Blood Moon: Blood Moon Elixirs spike 150โ€“300%. Stock 3 days before. Sell during.
  • Faction War: Combat consumables (health potions, stat boosters) spike 80โ€“120%.
  • Season changes: New tier crafting materials spike 200โ€“400% as players rush new content.

๐Ÿ’ก Event Calendar

The in-game Event Calendar (press E โ†’ Calendar) shows all upcoming events 30 days in advance. Plan your stock purchases 7 days before each event.

Strategy 3: Monopoly Plays (High Capital)

Requires 500,000+ gold. Buy all listings of a specific item below a target price, then relist everything at your target price. Works on items with:

  • Limited supply (crafted from rare materials)
  • Consistent demand (used in every patch cycle)
  • No easy farm location (can't be instantly undercut by farmers)

Risk: another wealthy player undercuts your monopoly price. Mitigate by choosing items with less than 50 total listings. Duration of successful monopoly: 2โ€“12 hours typically.

Strategy 4: Post-Patch Arbitrage

When new content drops, the economy is temporarily disrupted. Items that are newly valuable spike; old-tier items crash. In the first 4 hours after a patch:

  1. Read the patch notes before the patch drops
  2. Identify which materials the new content uses (new crafting recipes, new bosses)
  3. Buy those materials at pre-patch prices the day before
  4. Sell at post-patch demand spike (typically 48โ€“72 hours after patch, when the market adjusts)

Daily Trading Routine (1 Hour)

  1. Check active listings, cancel any undercut listings, relist at competitive price
  2. Scan top 20 tracked items for snipe opportunities (below 70% market value)
  3. Review Price History for trend shifts โ€” buy items trending up, sell items trending down
  4. Stock items needed for upcoming events based on Event Calendar

Consistent execution: 30,000โ€“100,000 gold per day for an experienced AH trader with 200,000+ capital.
