💀 Vex the Heretic
Warlock — Vampire
LAST UPDATED: APRIL 2026
LORE
“Exiled from the vampire courts for practicing forbidden void magic, Vex wanders the abyss hunting knowledge others dare not seek.”
Overview
Vex the Heretic is a vampire warlock exiled from the Crimson Empire for practicing forbidden void magic — a discipline so dangerous that even the empire's most ambitious court mages refused to touch it. He is one of the highest single-target damage dealers in the game, with Void Rupture dealing 400% INT damage while bypassing half of the target's defence. His dungeon XP passive makes him an exceptionally efficient levelling companion for players grinding through mid-to-late content.
Background
Vex was a prodigy at the Crimson Empire's Academy of the Arcane, outperforming students twice his age and drawing the attention of senior court mages who saw in him a useful instrument of imperial power. That attention curdled when Vex began researching the void — a dimension the empire officially declared forbidden, mostly because it was the one source of power they could not control or tax. He was exiled rather than executed as a concession to the few court members who recognised his talent, but the terms were clear: return and face the True Death. In the years since, wandering the abyssal zones at Aeternum's edges, Vex has unlocked void magic techniques that no living scholar has documented — and his hunger for knowledge has only grown more consuming as his exile stretches on. He joins not out of loyalty to a cause but out of curiosity: you represent an interesting problem, and interesting problems are the only thing that still amuses him.

Recruitment Guide
To recruit Vex the Heretic you must reach Level 40
and complete the recruitment quest chain (quest ID: 55).
The recruitment quest will become available in your quest log once the level
requirement is met — check the Quests
section of the wiki for full chain details.
TIP
Focus on completing the recruitment quest chain as soon as you hit the level requirement. Heroes recruited earlier have more time to accumulate loyalty, and even the level 1 loyalty bonus from Vex the Heretic begins paying off immediately after recruitment.
Personal Quests
Vex the Heretic has 5 personal quests. Completing each quest contributes toward loyalty tier progression. Work through them in order — later quests unlock after earlier ones are complete. All quests raise loyalty toward the next tier; reaching 3 and 8 completed quests triggers tier upgrades.

Combat Tips
- Void Rupture's 50% DEF penetration makes Vex the ideal pick against heavily armoured boss enemies and elite mobs where other damage dealers fall off — build maximum INT and let the defence bypass do the rest.
- Stack his dungeon XP passive by running the highest-tier dungeons you can access; his +20% XP bonus compounds with event multipliers, meaning dungeon marathons with Vex recruited can compress multiple character levels into a single session.
- Reach loyalty level 3 to unlock the Void Armory — it contains dark-type equipment that enhances void damage, creating a scaling loop that makes Void Rupture increasingly devastating in the late game.
Synergies
Vex pairs lethally with Mira the Bloodmage: Mira's Crimson Nova clears grouped targets while Vex's Void Rupture eliminates high-DEF priority targets that resist AoE damage. Warlock and sorcerer subclass players stack INT natively, amplifying both heroes' damage simultaneously. Vampire-race characters also benefit from faction resonance bonuses that apply to void damage in specific dungeon biomes, making Vex an even stronger pick for vampire-aligned dungeon farmers.
