Banker Aurelius operates Aeternum's primary financial institution from a reinforced office in the Dark Forest, offering gold storage, loans, and currency exchange to all comers regardless of faction. He is one of the wealthiest individuals in Aeternum and one of the most careful — his loans are extended only to those with demonstrated repayment capacity, and his interest rates are steep. He has, however, never lost a deposit.
Background & History
Aurelius built his banking empire over eighty years by being the only lender willing to finance both sides of the vampire-werewolf war simultaneously. He reasons, correctly, that the side that loses still has debts, and the side that wins needs capital for reconstruction. He now holds debt instruments from three vampire noble houses and two werewolf clan confederations, which gives him a level of political leverage he is careful never to exercise visibly. He employs twelve guards, all of whom are more capable than they appear.
