Current Meta Overview (April 2026)

The April 2026 meta is defined by two things: burst damage and survivability. The strongest builds either kill opponents before they can react or have enough sustain to outlast any aggression. The current top of the ladder is dominated by Shadow Assassins (burst) and Berserkers (raw damage + unkillable windows). Blood Mages have risen significantly thanks to their AoE pressure and life drain mechanics, while Moon Warriors remain the best all-around bruiser build.

Below is the complete tier list, followed by in-depth analysis of each build. We have referenced actual skill data from the game files to ensure accuracy.

S-Tier: Shadow Assassin (Vampire)

The Shadow Assassin is the undisputed king of burst damage in PvP. With passive bonuses of +30% DEX, +25% crit chance, and +15% dodge (at the cost of -20% HP and -15% DEF), this subclass is built to kill fast or die trying. The key is that Shadow Assassins kill fast far more often than they die.

Core PvP Combo

The devastating combo starts with Death Mark (enemy takes +30% damage from next 3 attacks), followed by Veil Strike (220% ATK, guaranteed crit), then Shadow Execution (400% ATK, instant kill below 30% HP). This three-skill sequence can eliminate almost any opponent from full HP, especially when combined with the base vampire skill Vampire Bite (ATK x1.3, 8% Life Steal, -5% enemy DEF).

Late-Game Dominance

At level 80, Death's Embrace (600% ATK guaranteed crit, instant kill below 20% HP) makes Shadow Assassins terrifying. Combined with Blade Flurry (10 rapid strikes at 80% ATK each, all can crit), the raw damage output is unmatched. The tier 5 passive Evasion Mastery (+40% dodge when below 50% HP) provides clutch survivability when fights go long.

HOW TO COUNTER

Shadow Assassins are fragile. Stun-heavy builds (Dark Knight) and high-HP builds (Moon Warrior) can survive the initial burst and win the attrition game. Force them below 50% HP carefully; their Evasion Mastery makes finishing them harder than expected.

S-Tier: Berserker (Werewolf)

The Berserker turns low HP into a weapon. With passive bonuses of +40% ATK below 50% HP, +30% STR, and stun immunity (at the cost of -25% DEF and -20% HP), Berserkers become exponentially more dangerous as they take damage. Trying to kill a Berserker often just makes them stronger.

Core PvP Combo

Open with Wild Rage (+60% ATK for 3 turns, -20% DEF) to maximize damage output, then use Feral Charge (250% ATK + stun 1 turn) to lock down the opponent. Follow with Juggernaut (350% ATK, ignores all DEF) for massive damage that no amount of armor can reduce. The passive Pain is Power (+5% ATK per 100 HP lost) means every hit you take makes your next attack stronger.

The Unkillable Window

At level 65, Primal Fury (+300% ATK for 4 turns, cannot die) is one of the most powerful PvP skills in the game. Combined with Berserker's Heart (passive: ATK doubles below 20% HP, stun immunity), a Berserker in Primal Fury mode can deal 1000%+ ATK per turn while being literally unkillable. The tier 5 ultimate Annihilation (1000% ATK, instant kill below 30% HP) closes out fights decisively.

A-Tier: Blood Mage (Vampire)

Blood Mage trades survivability for magical devastation. With +25% INT, +20% skill damage, and -15% cooldowns (at the cost of -15% DEF and -10% STR), this subclass excels at sustained magical pressure. In PvP, Blood Mages win by chipping away at opponents through AoE and bleed effects that cannot be blocked.

Key PvP Skills

Crimson Bolt (200% ATK magic, ignores all DEF) punishes tank builds heavily. Blood Vortex (140% ATK AoE each turn for 3 turns) provides sustained area pressure in team fights. Sanguine Surge (+50% INT for 4 turns, 20% life steal) is the key sustain tool, turning every spell into a healing ability. The ultimate Blood Apocalypse (800% magic AoE, 50% HP drain) can single-handedly win team fights.

Blood Mages are particularly strong against tank builds because Crimson Bolt ignores all DEF and Hemorrhage (AoE bleed dealing 20% HP over 5 turns) bypasses shields. Dark Knights, who rely on DEF stacking, struggle against Blood Mages.

A-Tier: Moon Warrior (Werewolf)

The Moon Warrior is the most versatile build in PvP, excelling at sustained combat with a unique Moon Charge mechanic. With +30% STR during Moon Night, +20% HP regen, and +15% END (at the cost of -15% SPD and -10% DEX), Moon Warriors are bruisers who win through attrition and powerful combo finishers.

Moon Charge System

Lunar Slash (200% ATK) generates a Moon Charge with each use, stacking up to 3. Crescent Strike (250% ATK, amplified x1.3 per charge) deals up to 250% x 3.9 = 975% effective ATK with 3 charges, making it one of the hardest-hitting single skills in the game when fully charged. The combination of Blood Sustain (passive: 20% life steal on all attacks) and Moon Armor (+35% DEF, 10% HP regen for 4 turns) makes Moon Warriors incredibly difficult to kill.

Moon Warriors are the best counter to Berserkers: their sustain and HP regen allow them to outlast Primal Fury, and Iron Will (below 30% HP: +50% STR and DEF, regen 20% HP) provides a powerful comeback mechanic.

B-Tier: Dark Knight (Vampire)

The Dark Knight is the definitive tank subclass with +25% DEF, +20% HP, and +15% STR (at the cost of -15% DEX and -20% magic damage). In PvP, Dark Knights win by absorbing damage and retaliating with powerful counter-attacks. The problem is that in the current burst-heavy meta, many fights end before the Dark Knight's defensive advantages can fully materialize.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Shield of Darkness (absorb next attack, counter for 150% ATK) and Dark Taunt (force targeting, DEF x1.5) are excellent against physical damage dealers. Fortress Mode (50% damage reduction for 4 turns, 15% HP regen) makes Dark Knights nearly unkillable in long fights. However, Blood Mage's DEF-ignoring magic and Shadow Assassin's burst damage hard-counter this build. At level 80, Eternal Darkness (unkillable for 2 turns, 400% AoE retaliation) is a powerful ultimate but has a long cooldown.

B-Tier: Pack Shaman (Werewolf)

Pack Shaman is a support-oriented subclass with +30% ally bonuses, +25% debuff duration, and +20% INT (at the cost of -20% STR and -15% personal damage). In 1v1 PvP, this puts Pack Shamans at a disadvantage because their kit is designed to empower allies. However, in Clan Wars and team PvP, Pack Shamans are invaluable.

Team PvP Value

War Howl (-30% enemy ATK and DEF, allies gain +20% ATK) is one of the strongest team fight abilities. Ancestral Blessing (heal all allies 30% HP, +30% DEF for 3 turns) can swing fights entirely. In 1v1, Pack Shamans rely on Spirit Wolf Pack (summon 2 wolves at 100% ATK each) and Nature's Wrath (350% AoE, root 2 turns) for damage, but their personal damage output is lower than other subclasses.

C-Tier: Hybrid Builds

Hybrid builds that split skill points across multiple subclass trees or mix incompatible stat priorities (such as STR+INT or DEF+DEX) consistently underperform in PvP. The VvW skill system rewards specialization: every subclass is designed around internal synergies that break down when diluted. A player with 50% Shadow Assassin skills and 50% Dark Knight skills will lose to both a full Shadow Assassin and a full Dark Knight.

The only exception is mixing base race skills with a single subclass, which is not really a hybrid but the intended progression path. If you are currently running a hybrid build, we strongly recommend respeccing into a single subclass to see immediate PvP improvement.

No build has a 100% win rate against any other build. Player skill, gear quality, companion choice, and rune socketing all influence outcomes. This chart shows general matchup tendencies, not guarantees. A skilled Dark Knight can absolutely beat a mediocre Shadow Assassin.

Upcoming Balance Changes

Based on developer communications and community feedback, expect the following adjustments in upcoming patches:

  • Shadow Assassin: Death Mark's vulnerability window may be reduced from +30% to +20% damage to tone down burst combos.
  • Berserker: Primal Fury's "cannot die" duration may be reduced from 4 turns to 3 turns, giving opponents a slightly larger window to survive.
  • Dark Knight: Base DEF bonus may increase from +25% to +30% to improve survivability against the current burst meta.
  • Pack Shaman: Personal damage may receive a buff to improve 1v1 viability without affecting their team support role.

We will update this tier list when balance patches go live. For build-specific optimization guides, check our Vampire Build Guide and Werewolf Build Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I only play S-tier builds?

No. The difference between S-tier and A-tier is small (about 5% win rate), and player skill matters far more than build choice in ranked play. Play the build you enjoy; mastery of a B-tier build will beat a poorly-played S-tier build every time.

How often does the meta shift?

Balance patches arrive roughly every 4-6 weeks. Major meta shifts happen 2-3 times per year. Shadow Assassin and Berserker have been S-tier since launch, but their exact power level fluctuates with each patch.

Are hybrid builds ever viable?

In PvP, no. In PvE, hybrid builds can work for casual content but will underperform in Mythic+ dungeons and raids. Always specialize for competitive content.

Which build is best for a returning player?

Moon Warrior. It is the most forgiving build in PvP, has excellent PvE versatility, and does not require perfect execution to succeed. Berserker is a close second if you prefer aggressive play.
