1 How PvP Works in Vampires vs. Werewolves
PvP in VvW is asynchronous and turn-based. You initiate an attack on another player and the combat resolves automatically based on both characters' stats and gear. The result is calculated server-side and you receive the outcome in your notifications.
Key mechanics to understand:
- You can attack any player within ±5 levels of your character
- Max 5 attacks per hour globally; max 3 attacks per specific target per day
- Winning steals 10–30% of the target's on-hand gold (capped at 20% of target's total)
- Losing gives no penalty besides losing the fight — you keep your gold if you lose as the attacker
- Shield mechanic: after being attacked 3× in 24h, your character gets a 6h PvP shield
ASYNCHRONOUS COMBAT
Your character defends automatically even when you're offline. Your defensive stats, equipped gear, and skills all activate during defense — there is no manual input required. Set up your defensive build before logging out.
2 ELO & Ranking System
VvW uses a modified ELO rating system (K-factor 32) for PvP rankings. Each character starts at ELO 1000.
| Scenario | ELO Change (Winner) | ELO Change (Loser) |
|---|---|---|
| Beat similar ELO opponent | +14 to +18 | -14 to -18 |
| Beat much higher ELO | +25 to +32 | -6 to -10 |
| Beat much lower ELO | +3 to +6 | -25 to -30 |
The PvP leaderboard resets seasonally (every 90 days). Top-ranked players earn exclusive titles: Veteran (200 PvP wins), Champion (500 wins), and faction-rank titles for reaching #1 in the Vampire or Werewolf leaderboard.
ELO STRATEGY
Target opponents with higher ELO than yours — especially those 100–200 ELO above you. Beating them gives outsized ELO gains and costs you very little ELO if you lose. Avoid farming low-ELO opponents; the gains are minimal and you'll earn a poor reputation in your faction.
3 Attack Timing Strategy
Because PvP is asynchronous, timing your attacks matters enormously. Experienced players use several timing strategies:
Target Players Who Just Collected Gold
Players who just completed missions, sold items, or received quest rewards will have maximum on-hand gold. Check activity logs (via the social page) to identify when targets were last active — players active 10–30 minutes ago are ideal targets.
Attack Before Server Reset (Midnight)
Daily quests and missions reset at server midnight. Many players collect gold right before reset. This is the highest-gold window to attack in any given 24-hour period.
Weekend Advantage
Weekend players accumulate more gold and are online more hours. However, they also check their accounts more often. The best window is Sunday evening — players have accumulated weekend gold but haven't yet deposited it or spent it on the weekly Black Market rotation.
DON'T OVER-ATTACK ONE TARGET
Attacking the same player more than 3 times in 24 hours activates their PvP shield — you'll be blocked from attacking them again for 6 hours. Spread your attacks across multiple targets for maximum daily gold income.
4 Best PvP Builds

- Weapon enchant: Legendary Flame (+15% ATK + fire DoT)
- Rune: Rune of Blood (+8% life steal) — sustains you through multi-round fights
- Playstyle: Win in rounds 1–3 via burst damage before the opponent's defense mechanics activate
Werewolf PvP — Berserker Brawler
- Stats: STR 35% → VIT 30% → AGI 20% → LCK 15%
- Key skills: Pack Howl (ATK buff), Berserker Rage (damage multiplier), Iron Hide (DEF buff)
- Weapon enchant: Moon-Blessed (+8% Rage fill rate)
- Rune: Rune of Rage (+15% Rage fill) — Berserker activates round 2
- Playstyle: Tank early rounds, activate Berserker for a devastating round 3–4 finish
DEFENSIVE BUILD TIP
If you're not actively PvPing but don't want to lose gold when attacked, equip a defensive set before logging out: max DEF armor + Shadow-Touched enchant (+10% Dodge). Swap back to your offensive build when you return. Many veterans keep two gear sets for this purpose.
5 Counter-Build Guide
Once you can see who is attacking you (via notifications), check their profile to identify their build type and counter accordingly:
| Enemy Build Type | Identifier | Counter Strategy |
|---|---|---|
| Burst Crit (Vampire) | High LCK, low VIT | Stack VIT + high DEF armor. Survive round 1, win by attrition. |
| Life Steal Sustain | Blood enchant/rune | Kill fast — high burst damage overwhelms life steal before it scales |
| Berserker (Werewolf) | High VIT, Rage rune | AGI-heavy dodge build + Shadow-Touched. Deny rage activation via dodges |
| Tank Turtle | Max DEF, low ATK | Legendary Flame + fire DoT wins by damage over time |
| Speed Striker | Max AGI | High DEF armor absorbs multi-hit damage; Tough enchant essential |
6 Protecting Your Gold
Gold lost to PvP is one of the biggest frustrations for new players. Here's how to minimize your exposure:
- Spend gold before logging out. Buy gear, upgrade items, or invest in clan buildings. Gold sitting in your wallet is gold that can be stolen.
- Use the Auction House as a bank. Listing an item in the auction house removes the gold from your on-hand balance (it only returns when the listing expires or sells). Smart players list items at high prices as a temporary gold deposit.
- Keep PvP shield active. If you're in a grinding session and don't want interruptions, trigger your own shield by baiting attacks (optional, not always practical).
- Don't hoard gold. Maximum stolen per attack is 20% of your total. A player with 50,000 gold loses up to 10,000 per attack. A player with 5,000 gold loses at most 1,000.
7 Clan PvP Dynamics
Joining a strong clan significantly impacts your PvP experience:
- Clan Aura — War Cry: Upgraded clan halls provide a passive ATK bonus (+3–8%) that applies in all PvP combat
- Clan War events: Monthly inter-clan wars with a dedicated kill scoreboard. 10+ kills earns the "War Hero" title
- Clan protection: Attacking a member of a top-ranked clan risks retaliation from their entire roster
- Shared intel: Active clans share information about target gold levels and activity windows in clan chat
8 Advanced PvP Tips
- Check the ranking page before attacking. Attacking a top-10 player who has dozens of clan members willing to retaliate is rarely worth the short-term gold gain.
- Level 5 PvP difference is everything. A level 30 character attacking a level 35 enemy is at a significant disadvantage. Stay within ±2 levels of your targets when possible.
- Moon Howl Elixir before major PvP sessions. Crafted at the Alchemy Lab, it increases Rage fill rate by 15% for 1 hour. For Werewolves, this means Berserker activates in round 1–2 instead of 3–4.
- Speed Elixir works both offensively and defensively. +15% AGI increases both attack frequency AND dodge chance. Drink one before your offline period for better defensive performance.
- Track your win rate. The profile page shows your W/L ratio. If you're below 50%, stop attacking and reassess your build before spending more cooldown resets.
PRO INSIGHT
The most successful PvP players in VvW are not the ones with the highest stats — they're the ones who understand optimal target selection. A level 40 player attacking rich level 38–39 players consistently earns more gold per day than a level 45 player who randomly attacks anyone in range.
