How to Pick a Race in VvW (Vampire or Werewolf)

Choosing your race in Vampires vs. Werewolves is the most important early decision. It's permanent on a single character and shapes your stats, skills, and faction politics. Vampires excel at sustain and methodical play. Werewolves dominate burst combat and PvP. This 5-step guide walks you through the decision in under 5 minutes.

The 5 Steps

1

Identify your preferred playstyle

Do you prefer methodical, sustained combat where you outlast opponents? → Vampire. Do you prefer aggressive burst with high opening damage? → Werewolf. Don't pick the "stronger" race — pick the one whose playstyle you'll enjoy for 200+ hours.

2

Compare base stats

Vampire: 90 HP, +8 ATK, +6 INT, +15% Night Combat. Passive: Blood Drain restores 10% of damage dealt as HP.
Werewolf: 110 HP, +10 STR, +5 DEF, +10% Forest Combat. Passive: Natural Regen restores 2% HP per turn.

Vampires win sustained 8+ turn fights. Werewolves win 3-5 turn fights through superior raw HP and burst.

3

Consider your content focus

If you'll mostly do PvE solo grinding, vampire's Blood Drain is forgiving — you can survive misplays through life-steal. If you'll mostly do PvP duels and arena, werewolf's HP advantage closes fights before sustain matters. For group raids, both work; party composition matters more than race.

4

Check faction balance

Visit our live stats API or the stats page to see current faction balance. If one side is trending behind 48–52%, the next Eclipse War event will buff their rewards. Joining the underdog faction can be a smart long-term play.

5
