Rankings are based on DEF efficiency per level range, HP bonus, set bonus value, and how the set performs in both PvE and PvP contexts. Acquisition difficulty is noted but not a primary ranking factor — availability varies by server economy.

10. Iron Plate Set
The default armor for new players. Not impressive, but available immediately at the Shop for 50 Gold. The 4-piece set bonus (+5 DEF below 50% HP) is a nice survival cushion while you learn the game. Replace it the moment you hit level 15.
9. Hunter's Leather Set
The first set that meaningfully benefits DEX builds. The 4-piece bonus (+8% Dodge, +10 DEX) makes it exceptional for early Dodge builds. DEX-focused Werewolves should target this set immediately at level 15 — it's a massive quality-of-life upgrade over Iron Plate.
8. Shadowweave Cloth Set
Low raw DEF, but Shadowweave is the go-to armor for lifesteal builds. The 4-piece bonus (+12% Lifesteal, +15 DEX) turns small hits into continuous healing. Vampire lifesteal builds should go straight to this from Iron Plate, skipping Hunter's Leather entirely. The crafted version is inexpensive and available at level 20.
7. Crimson Chain Set
A significant jump in raw DEF and HP. The Rare tier unlocks meaningful set bonuses — Crimson Chain's +20 HP regen per turn makes it exceptional for long dungeon fights. Tank builds that reach level 30 should prioritise this over the Uncommon sets. The AH price is reasonable at ~800 Gold for the full set.
6. Moonguard Plate Set
The undisputed king of mid-game dungeon progression. The boss damage reduction bonus (+15% DEF vs Boss attacks) is enormous for D4–D6 progression, where boss one-shots are the main threat. Werewolf tanks especially benefit — the set synergises with the Werewolf innate STR to maintain DPS while being nearly unkillable in early dungeons.
5. Duskforged Set
Slightly lower DEF than Moonguard Plate, but Duskforged is the best choice for hybrid STR/DEX builds. The +20 STR set bonus keeps your damage output high while you defend — critical for builds that can't sacrifice offensive stats for pure tank efficiency. The crafting recipe is farmable from D5 materials.
4. Bloodward Plate
The first Epic armor worth farming for. Bloodward Plate's +25% DEF set bonus effectively raises your total damage reduction by a significant margin, and the +40 HP regen per turn makes sustained fights far more forgiving. This set gets players through D7–D8 comfortably and is a solid PvP option in the 60–70 rank bracket.
3. Stormbreaker Mail
Stormbreaker Mail is technically lower DEF than Bloodward Plate, but the +15% ATK set bonus makes it the premier choice for DPS builds at level 70+. The combined +20 DEX / +20 STR allows hybrid builds to shine. In PvP, the offensive pressure from Stormbreaker often wins faster than pure tank sets — aggression is defence at high ELO. Considered by many the best-in-slot for Arena bracket 70–79.
In the competitive 70–79 Arena bracket, Stormbreaker Mail vs Bloodward Plate is the defining gear choice. Tank players prefer Bloodward; aggressive builds and Crit-oriented Vampires consistently outperform with Stormbreaker. Check the current server meta — it shifts with balance patches.
2. Voidscale Plate
The best pre-Legendary armor in the game. Voidscale Plate reaches the DEF soft cap more efficiently than any other Epic set, and the 20% incoming crit reduction is incredibly powerful in both Mythic+ and high-ELO PvP. If you can't yet obtain the Legendary Obsidian set, Voidscale is your ceiling — and it's competitive even against some lower-roll Legendary pieces.
1. Obsidian Sovereign Set — Best in Slot
The uncontested best-in-slot armor. Obsidian Sovereign's 285 DEF pushes you near the new 75% damage reduction cap — combined with the +12% ATK set bonus, it's the only armor that doesn't require you to choose between offense and defense. The Void Shield (1× per day, absorbs 500 damage) is a game-changer in Mythic+10 and Grand Legend Arena. The 4-piece bonus alone makes any other endgame armor a downgrade once you have access.
