Pack Shaman is the only support-oriented subclass in VvW, and in structured clan play it's arguably the most impactful character on the server. Solo play rates it A tier; in Eclipse Wars and Clan Raids it's effectively S tier. This guide shows you how to realise that potential.
Core Identity
Pack Shamans don't win fights through raw damage — they win fights by making everyone around them dramatically more effective. Totem buffs applied to clan members, debuff stacks on bosses, and group healing make the Pack Shaman irreplaceable in any organised group.
Passive bonuses: +15% to all clan members' stats when Shaman is in the raid, +20% clan reputation gains, +10% group healing.
Totem System Explained
Pack Shamans can place up to 3 totems simultaneously. Each totem type serves a different function:
- War Totem: +12% ATK to all raid members within range. Primary buff for offensive raids.
- Stone Totem: +15% DEF to all raid members. Use when your clan lacks tank characters.
- Storm Totem: Applies 5% DEF debuff per stack to the boss, up to 10 stacks (50% total). This is the most powerful totem for Raid Boss content.
For Eclipse Wars, the optimal configuration is: 2 War Totems + 1 Storm Totem. For Raid Bosses: 1 War Totem + 1 Storm Totem + 1 Stone Totem (for survival).
Skill Priority
Priority 1: Max out Storm Totem first
A 50% DEF reduction on raid bosses multiplies every clan member's damage output. This single skill improvement often doubles your clan's total DPS on Raid Boss encounters.
Priority 2: Spirit Link (Tier 3)
Connects you to 3 clan members, sharing 20% of healing received with them. In Clan Wars where healing matters, this is invaluable.
Priority 3: Pack Howl (Tier 4)
AoE buff that gives all raid members +25% ATK for 5 turns. On cooldown for Eclipse Wars — time it with your clan's burst damage windows.
Eclipse War Dominance
In Eclipse Wars, the Pack Shaman's value is measured in kills enabled for your team, not kills made directly. A well-played Shaman with active War Totems in a 20-player Eclipse War contributes more to the win than 3 individual DPS characters.
- Place War Totems at choke points your clan controls — enemies must fight into your buff zone
- Stack debuffs on opposing tanks to speed up eliminations
- Use Spirit Link on your clan's best damage dealers, not yourself
Gear Focus
Pack Shaman gear prioritises HP and DEF over damage stats. You need to survive long enough for your totems to matter:
- Weapon: Any weapon — your damage output is irrelevant. Pick for HP or secondary buff bonuses.
- Armor: Maximum DEF + HP. Totem placement requires you to be in the thick of combat.
- Companion: Iron Bear is optimal — the HP bonus keeps you alive longer, and the fear effect (Roar) can buy your clan a free turn during critical moments.
CLAN REQUIREMENT
Pack Shaman is substantially weaker in solo play. If you plan to play mostly solo, Berserker or Moon Warrior will serve you better. Pack Shaman reaches its ceiling in a coordinated clan with 10+ active members.
