Gem-to-Gold Conversion — When and Why
Gems convert to gold at a deliberately lossy rate (1 gem = ~80 gold buy / sell ~50 gold). The asymmetry exists to discourage real-money pay-to-power. Use gem→gold only for one-shot opportunities (auction snipes, time-sensitive crafts).
Why the spread is lossy
If gems → gold were 1:1 efficient, premium currency would distort the economy. The 30-40% spread caps how much real-money advantage gem-buyers can convert into in-game power. By design.
When to convert anyway
Three legitimate cases: (1) Auction snipe of a legendary item that won't appear for weeks. (2) Time-locked crafting catalyst that's about to expire. (3) Emergency clan-treasury fill before a war event. Outside these, never.
