Event Overview & Dates

The Winter Frost event spans months 12, 1, and 2 (December through February). Like all seasonal events, it activates automatically and grants a global +15% XP bonus and +10% Gold bonus to all players for the entire duration. The world of Aeternum is blanketed in snow, all zones receive winter visual overlays, and ice-themed monsters begin spawning across every region.

The Winter Solstice is the climactic highlight of the event, occurring during a two-week window around the real-world winter solstice (mid-December to early January). During this period, Frost Crystal drop rates are doubled, a unique world boss called the Blizzard Colossus spawns every 4 hours, and the Gift Exchange system opens. This is the highest-value farming window of the entire year.

Frost Crystal Currency

Frost Crystals are the Winter Frost seasonal currency, functioning identically to other seasonal currencies but with their own exclusive vendor and reward pool.

How to Earn Frost Crystals

  • Seasonal monsters: 2-8 Frost Crystals per kill depending on level.
  • Throne of the Winter Queen dungeon: 30-60 Frost Crystals per complete run, with bonus from the boss.
  • Daily event quests: 15 Frost Crystals per quest, 3 quests available daily (45 total).
  • Weekly event challenge: 120 Frost Crystals for completion.
  • Gift Exchange: 10-50 Frost Crystals as random gift rewards during the Solstice window.
  • Blizzard Colossus world boss: 25 Frost Crystals per kill during the Solstice window.

Like all seasonal currencies, Frost Crystals do not carry over between years. Unspent crystals convert to gold at a 1:2 ratio when the event ends in late February. Prioritize spending before the season closes.

Winter-Exclusive Items

The Winter Frost vendor offers some of the most desirable seasonal gear in the game. The defensive stats on winter items are notably higher than other seasonal sets, making them prized by tank builds and PvP sustain players.

Consumables

  • Hot Cocoa of Resilience: +15% Defense for 30 minutes. Excellent for dungeon runs and tanking.
  • Blizzard Scroll: +10% XP for 30 minutes. Standard seasonal XP booster.
GEAR TIP

The Avalanche Maul (+35 STR, +8 DEF) is arguably the best seasonal weapon in the game. Its combination of raw strength and defensive stats makes it ideal for Werewolf Berserker builds. Prioritize this if you play melee.

Ice Dungeon: Throne of the Winter Queen

The Throne of the Winter Queen is the Winter Frost seasonal dungeon. It requires level 40 to enter and consists of 6 rooms of increasingly difficult ice-themed encounters, culminating in the Winter Queen boss fight.

Dungeon Layout

  1. Rooms 1-2: Frost Imp packs (Lv. 50, 300 HP each). Small demons made of living ice that hurl frost bolts. Easy to clear with AoE abilities.
  2. Room 3: Ice Wraith encounter (Lv. 55, 420 HP). A spirit trapped in permafrost whose touch freezes flesh. Bring anti-freeze consumables or high resistance gear.
  3. Room 4: Snowstorm Yeti (Lv. 58, 580 HP). A towering beast of white fur that charges through blizzards. High ATK (30) but relatively low DEF. Burst it down quickly before it builds momentum.
  4. Room 5: Glacial Golem (Lv. 62, 720 HP). A massive construct of ancient ice with the highest DEF (25) of any non-boss winter monster. Slow but devastating. Use armor-piercing skills or magic damage to bypass its defenses.
  5. Room 6 (Boss): The Winter Queen (Lv. 70, 1,200 HP, 50 ATK, 30 DEF). The sovereign of eternal winter who encases foes in ice and summons devastating blizzards.

Winter Queen Boss Strategy

The Winter Queen has three phases. In Phase 1 (100-60% HP), she uses basic ice attacks and summons Frost Imps. Focus the Queen and ignore the adds. In Phase 2 (60-30% HP), she activates Blizzard Field, which deals 5% max HP damage to all players every turn. Stack HP regen, life steal, or healing to offset this. In Phase 3 (below 30% HP), she uses Absolute Zero, a powerful single-target attack that can one-shot under-geared players. Burn her down as fast as possible during this phase. The Hot Cocoa of Resilience (+15% DEF) is strongly recommended for the entire fight.

Frost Bosses

MONSTER LEVEL HP ATK DEF TYPE
Frost Imp 50 300 22 14 Demon
Ice Wraith 55 420 30 15 Undead
Snowstorm Yeti 58 580 30 22 Beast
Glacial Golem 62 720 34 25 Golem
Winter Queen (BOSS) 70 1,200 50 30 Boss
SECRET BOSS: BLIZZARD COLOSSUS

During the Winter Solstice window, the Blizzard Colossus world boss spawns every 4 hours in the Shadow Mountains. It has 5,000 HP, 80 ATK, and 45 DEF. It is designed for groups of 5+ players and drops 25 Frost Crystals, a guaranteed epic item, and a rare chance at the exclusive Colossus Shard cosmetic material. Check server announcements for spawn timers.

Gift Exchange System

The Gift Exchange is a unique Winter Solstice mechanic available only during the two-week Solstice window. Here is how it works:

  1. Crafting gifts: Use 10 Frost Crystals + crafting materials to create a Wrapped Gift at any crafting station.
  2. Sending gifts: Send Wrapped Gifts to any player on your friends list or in your clan.
  3. Opening gifts: Received gifts contain random rewards: 10-50 Frost Crystals, consumables, rare crafting materials, or a small chance at an exclusive Gift Exchange cosmetic (snowflake particle effect).
  4. Gift streak bonus: Sending a gift every day during the Solstice window builds a streak. At 7 consecutive days of gifting, you receive a Solstice Gift Box containing a guaranteed epic item and 100 Frost Crystals.

The Gift Exchange is one of the most community-oriented features in VvW. Clan leaders often organize gift rotations to ensure every member hits the 7-day streak. The system is designed to encourage social play during the holiday season, and the rewards are generous enough to justify the Frost Crystal investment.

Best Farming Strategy

Winter Frost farming follows a similar pattern to other seasonal events, but the Gift Exchange and Blizzard Colossus add extra steps. Here is your optimal daily routine during the Winter Solstice window:

  1. Check Blizzard Colossus spawn timer first. If it spawns within the next 30 minutes, wait and join the group. The 25 Frost Crystals + guaranteed epic make this the highest-priority activity.
  2. Complete 3 daily event quests (45 Frost Crystals, ~20 minutes).
  3. Run the Throne of the Winter Queen 2-3 times (60-180 Frost Crystals, ~30-45 minutes). Use Hot Cocoa of Resilience before the Queen fight.
  4. Send a Gift Exchange gift to maintain your daily streak. Craft the cheapest gift option if you are low on materials.
  5. Farm Frost Imps and Ice Wraiths in the open world for additional crystals and crafting materials (30-60 Frost Crystals per hour).
  6. Complete the weekly challenge as soon as possible for the 120 Frost Crystal bonus.
FARMING TIP

During the Solstice double-drop window, a focused player can earn 600+ Frost Crystals per day. Start farming on day one of the Solstice period and you will have enough for every item in the vendor shop plus all cosmetics within 10 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

What level do I need to participate?

The Throne of the Winter Queen dungeon requires level 40. Seasonal monsters span levels 50-70. Daily quests are available to all players, and the Gift Exchange has no level requirement. Lower-level players can contribute through gifting and PvP.

Is the winter gear set better than the autumn set?

The winter set has higher HP and DEF stats overall, making it better for tank and sustain builds. The autumn set leans more toward offensive stats with its STR and DEX focus. Both sets are competitive at their level range; choose based on your build.

How does the Gift Exchange work for solo players?

You need at least one friend or clan member to exchange gifts with. If you play solo, joining a clan specifically for the Gift Exchange is worth the effort. The 7-day streak reward (epic item + 100 Frost Crystals) is too valuable to skip.

Can I fight the Blizzard Colossus solo?

No. With 5,000 HP, 80 ATK, and 45 DEF, the Blizzard Colossus is designed for group content. Attempting it solo will result in a quick defeat. Group up with 5+ players and coordinate via clan chat or the world boss channel.

Do Frost Crystals carry over between years?

No. They convert to gold at a 1:2 ratio when the event ends. Spend them before February ends.

What is the most valuable purchase from the vendor?

For combat power, the Avalanche Maul (Epic, +35 STR, +8 DEF) is best in slot for melee builds at level 60. For collectors, the exclusive winter cosmetics rotate yearly and should be prioritized since gear can be traded on the Auction House later.
