What Is Prestige?

Prestige is a voluntary character reset that becomes available once you reach level 80. When you trigger Prestige, your character level returns to 1 — but this is not a setback. Your gold, equipped items, crafting inventory, clan membership, and Prestige-exclusive bonuses all carry forward. You level faster than before due to your Prestige bonuses, and you re-enter the early game with endgame knowledge, resources, and permanent power advantages that a first-time player cannot access.

The Prestige system is the game's answer to the classic browser RPG question: "What happens after I max out?" In VvW, maxing out is the beginning of the real game, not the end. Each Prestige tier you complete multiplies your effectiveness in ways that make every subsequent playthrough shorter and more powerful.

When Should You Prestige?

The minimum requirement is level 80, but the optimal prestige point is level 90-95. Here is why:

Between level 80 and 95, you have access to skill nodes that are not available at 80. Maxing out your skill tree before prestiging means those maxed skills carry their efficiency into your post-prestige leveling, making the return trip to level 80 significantly faster. A player who prestiged at exactly 80 will typically take 20-25% longer to re-reach 80 than a player who waited until 90-95.

Additionally, dungeon tier 9 and 10 — which drop the best crafting materials in the game — are accessible in the level 85-95 range. Running these before prestige lets you bank high-tier materials that will be unavailable again until you return to those levels.

DO NOT PRESTIGE EARLY

Prestiging at exactly level 80 is a common mistake. You will miss 2-3 critical skill nodes and lose access to tier 9-10 dungeon loot while you re-level. Wait until 90-95 at minimum.

Prestige Bonuses: Tiers 1-5

Each Prestige tier adds permanent bonuses that stack. Here is what you gain at each milestone:

Prestige Tier XP Bonus Gold Bonus Combat Bonus Special Unlock
Prestige 1+10% XP+5% Gold+2% All StatsPrestige profile badge
Prestige 2+20% XP+10% Gold+4% All StatsExclusive cosmetic frame
Prestige 3+30% XP+15% Gold+6% All StatsClan war bonus participation reward
Prestige 4+45% XP+22% Gold+9% All StatsUnlocks Prestige-exclusive skill node
Prestige 5+60% XP+30% Gold+12% All StatsApex title + endgame vendor access
STACKING BONUSES

Prestige bonuses stack cumulatively. A Prestige 5 player has all of the bonuses from tiers 1-4 plus tier 5 — totaling +60% XP, +30% Gold, and +12% to all base stats. This is why high-prestige players re-level so dramatically faster than first-time players.

Pre-Prestige Checklist

Before triggering your Prestige reset, work through this checklist:

  • Level 90+ confirmed — Do not prestige before this threshold.
  • All skill nodes maxed — Check the skill tree for any uncompleted branches you can still reach.
  • Gold reserve above 50,000 — Having a gold cushion post-reset accelerates early re-leveling dramatically.
  • Tier 9-10 dungeon runs completed — Bank the materials from at least 10 runs of the highest dungeon tier you can access.
  • Crafting materials NOT sold — Confirm your inventory has all crafting materials you have collected; do not sell before prestiging.
  • Active Battle Pass — If your Battle Pass is near expiry, consider timing prestige so it aligns with a fresh seasonal Battle Pass for maximum value.
  • Clan position stable — If you hold a leadership role in your clan, brief members that you are about to prestige and will be temporarily lower-level while re-leveling.
  • Gems allocated wisely — Prestige does not reset gems, but any pending purchases you planned should be made before or after — not left unresolved during re-leveling.

Prestige 1 vs. Prestige 5: The Difference

To understand why the prestige system rewards repeated investment, consider the difference between a Prestige 1 and Prestige 5 player returning to level 1 after their respective resets:

The Prestige 1 player re-levels with a modest XP bonus and slightly improved combat efficiency. They will re-reach level 80 in roughly the same time as their original playthrough — perhaps 15% faster. Their gold accumulation is slightly improved, and their combat power is modestly higher than a fresh character at the same level.

The Prestige 5 player re-levels with +60% XP, +30% Gold, and +12% to all stats permanently baked in. They re-reach level 80 in approximately half the time of their original playthrough. Their combat power at any given level is dramatically higher than same-level opponents. They generate wealth at a pace that allows consistent clan treasury contributions while still personal gearing. The fifth prestige is the point where the game's endgame opens fully.

Common Concerns Answered

Should I spend all my gems before prestiging?

No. Gems carry over fully and there is no advantage to spending them beforehand. Spend gems on their optimal timing regardless of prestige plans.

Will I be a burden to my clan while re-leveling?

Experienced clan members understand the prestige cycle. Your Prestige bonuses mean you re-level faster than they might expect, and your endgame gear remains equipped even at level 1. Within a few weeks of play you will be contributing meaningfully again — often faster than first-time players at the same level.

Is it worth prestiging before I max out my gear?

Generally yes, provided you meet the level 90+ threshold. Your gear carries forward, so any gear improvements you make after prestige stack with your prestige bonuses. Waiting indefinitely to perfect your gear before prestiging costs you the XP and gold bonuses you would be accumulating on your second playthrough.
